In 1998 San Marino Excavating, Inc was founded by Joe Riccardi and Steve Callaghan. The partners began with a Cat D3 dozer and triple axle dump truck with support of a group of highly respected builders, which the company still continues to work with today. They decided to name their company after a small republic in Italy in honor of Joe's father, where he was born.

While in college Joe Riccardi had developed a business plan and put the plan into effect one year after graduation and gaining more field knowledge in the residential building industry.

We did a lot of work in Canton, MI area as the building industry started to boom in the area. With a strong economy and the desire to do the best job possible, caused our business to expand rapidly. When you strive to do good work, and continue the good work, the word gets around and you build a reputation for fast reliable service.

We are a full-scope excavation & grading Contractor that installs water, sewer main line & leads, septic systems (incl. engineer), concrete & asphalt removal & prep, to basement excavation and grading from backfill, rough grade to final grade.
